I have spent more than three decades working in legal, rights and business affairs roles within the media industry, following earlier experience in broadcasting and production.
That combination gives me an understanding of the legal agreement, the commercial deal behind it and the practical realities faced by producers, talent and their representatives.
Experience
More than three decades across broadcasting, rights and media business affairs.
I qualified as a solicitor in 1997, having already developed substantial experience in broadcasting, rights and media business affairs.
During a long career in the BBC Group, with previous experience in commercial businesses including VCI, I worked across a wide range of television and media matters, including production, talent, rights, distribution, digital exploitation and complex commercial negotiations.
Throughout much of my career, the focus of my work has been on independent production companies, key talent, new content creation and emerging markets, shaping the commercial deals behind programmes and new forms of exploitation. I have advised award-winning production companies and internationally recognised talent across a wide range of programmes, alongside broadcasters, distributors and digital platforms.
This has included extensive work with new and emerging platforms and distribution models, advising on novel rights and commercial opportunities as the media landscape evolved.
That experience now forms the foundation of Linda Duncan Law.

Media law rarely operates in isolation. A clause that looks straightforward on paper can affect budgets, production schedules, editorial ambitions, future rights and relationships with talent.
My approach is therefore to identify the issues that genuinely matter, explain them clearly and help clients reach workable commercial outcomes.
